Factchequeado has received support from the Jonathan Logan Family Foundation on to combat the information gap and misinformation surrounding the 2024 U.S. elections in Spanish-speaking communities in key states (Michigan, North Carolina, Nevada, Georgia, Arizona, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania).
The foundation approved a grant of $177,650 through the fiscal sponsor, the International Center for Journalist, to support Factchequeado's work in this crucial effort.
Objectives of the Collaboration
The initiative aims to strengthen fact-checking capabilities in Spanish and provide tools among media outlets focusing on key states in these elections. This project seeks to expand the community of local journalists who can serve Hispanic and Latino populations to counter misinformation in Spanish in the United States.
Additionally, the project supports the continued development of proactive strategies to identify emerging trends in election misinformation and produce verified content about the elections in Spanish. It also explores various formats to improve access to information among Latinos and those who use Spanish as their first language.
