Factchequeado is working with TikTok throughout 2026 to provide analysis and insights into misinformation affecting the Spanish-speaking market in the United States, as part of its mission to expand access to reliable information and strengthen the Spanish-language information ecosystem.
Drawing on journalistic best practices and Factchequeado’s experience monitoring and analyzing misinformation narratives affecting Latino communities, the work includes producing trend reports and analyses of false and misleading content that affects, or could potentially harm, TikTok users who consume information in Spanish in the United States.
The collaboration makes it possible to systematize insights into the characteristics, evolution, and spread of these narratives, with particular attention to those that may have a direct impact on Latino communities. The goal is to contribute to a better understanding of a constantly evolving information environment and to provide specialized knowledge about misinformation targeting Spanish-speaking audiences.
This work builds on several initiatives developed by Factchequeado in partnership with TikTok in previous years. During the 2024 presidential election, the organization participated in a special project focused on combating election misinformation targeting Spanish-speaking Latino communities.
In addition, since November 2023, Factchequeado has produced educational video content featuring verified information for Spanish-speaking communities that use the app. This approach aims to bring high-quality information into the same digital spaces where false or misleading content circulates, rather than relying solely on people actively seeking out trustworthy sources.
For Factchequeado, understanding how Spanish-language misinformation narratives originate, adapt, and spread is a central part of its work. The organization combines journalism, research, technology, partnerships, and community knowledge to identify information gaps and develop useful, accessible, and culturally relevant responses.
