Factchequeado has added Instagram as a new channel for accessing its chatbot, already available on WhatsApp, to get closer to Latino communities. With this initiative, available on Instagram since March 10, 2026, the organization is expanding its direct communication channels to answer questions, provide context, and offer useful information in Spanish.
The decision to implement the chatbot on Instagram stemmed from an increase in audience demand for information. In recent months, the Factchequeado team has observed an increase in requests for information through Instagram direct messages, many of them related to questions about the veracity or context of content circulating on social media, as well as current affairs.
Given this need for information, Factchequeado decided to bring the chatbot that has been operating on WhatsApp since 2022 to Instagram, to offer quick and accessible answers on the same channel where many of these questions arise.
Through this tool, people can send reels, posts, or messages about content that raises questions for them and receive verified information or context to better understand what they are seeing on social media. The chatbot works thanks to a development that uses artificial intelligence (AI) trained with Factchequeado's content database. When the tool cannot find an answer to a query, the question is forwarded to the editorial team, which analyzes the request and generates content based on the real questions and concerns of the community. In this way, questions from the audience can also help guide Factchequeado's news production.
The chatbot also provides access to other features developed by Factchequeado for its community. These include ChatMigrante, which offers information in Spanish on immigration issues in the United States; FactDesafío, an interactive game for learning how to detect misleading information; and the latest content on topics of interest to Latinos in the United States.
“With the arrival of the chatbot on Instagram, developed by Botalite, Factchequeado continues to develop tools that bring clear, accessible, and useful information to the Latino community, focusing on listening to the community and using technology to provide answers in the spaces where questions and conversations arise,” says Laura Zommer, co-founder and CEO of Factchequeado.
This expansion is part of Factchequeado's commitment to be present on the platforms where our audience is and to respond to their information needs in real time.
