Factchequeado, with support from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), is offering virtual training for pediatricians, leading pediatric professionals, healthcare workers, and other key stakeholders to combat misinformation related to COVID-19 vaccines and other health and policy topics affecting Latino and Spanish-speaking communities in the U.S.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought a surge in health and science misinformation, including falsehoods about the virus and vaccine effectiveness. Evidence also shows that misinformation targeting vulnerable communities was created, as seen in the Latino communities in the U.S., where falsehoods such as vaccination centers being traps for deportation circulated. Furthermore, research from The Election Integrity Partnership revealed that most efforts to combat misinformation in the U.S. focused on English-language content.

Through this initiative, AAP and Factchequeado aim to create a community of pediatricians, healthcare professionals, and other stakeholders to collaboratively combat misinformation and build trust in vaccines for COVID-19 and other diseases. The initiative uses popular platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok to engage with their respective communities.
