Factchequeado was selected to participate in the inaugural Latine Voices for Democracy Accelerator program by New Media Ventures. The initiative focuses on empowering Latino-led media organizations in the states of Arizona, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Among the ten media outlets are Palabra, Texas Signal Media Foundation, The Nevadan, Manifest Communications, Hola Carolina, and Factchequeado media partners Arizona Luminaria, Deceleration, Enlace Latino NC, and NotiVisión Georgia.
As part of this initiative, Factchequeado received a $50,000 grant to strengthen our organization and increase our impact. The vision and dedication of Factchequeado impressed the team at New Media Ventures (NMV), who are confident that our participation will significantly enrich the program. Our "unique perspective and entrepreneurial spirit will greatly contribute to the dynamic community being built," noted NMV when selecting Factchequeado.
Program Objectives
The support and acceleration program aims to strengthen Factchequeado’s fact-checking capabilities in Spanish and provide essential resources for media outlets focused on Spanish-speaking communities in the United States.
Over seven months, Factchequeado will have access to mentorship, technological tools and networking opportunities. The program also includes participation in in-person events in Los Angeles and San Francisco, where Factchequeado’s team will engage with industry experts, receive personalized guidance, and collaborate with other media leaders with a shared passion for media innovation.
Before the end of 2024, with mentorship from the NMV team, Factchequeado will undertake a final project related to organizational growth in the area of impact measurement.
