Factchequeado has received a $150,000 grant from the Google News Initiative (GNI) to further its mission of providing verified, timely, and high-quality information in Spanish to better serve Latino communities in the United States. This grant will be used to expand partnerships with media outlets and grassroots organizations around the country. Importantly, this funding will support Factchequeado’s efforts to enhance the capacity of these organizations to meet the information needs of the Latino communities they serve, as well as strengthen media literacy training for these partners and their communities.
The project, which will run until December 2024, includes supports Factchequeado’s efforts distributing its original Spanish-language content to be republished for free by Factchequeado’s partners, the creation of multimedia content addressing current trends identified on Google Trends in Spanish, and the strengthening of the collaborative network with partner with over 100 media outlets and organizations through weekly meetings and special projects.
