The collaboration between Factchequeado and the American Press Institute (API), through the "Election + Influencers Learning Cohort“ program, focuses on fostering partnerships with influencers or content creators and other media outlets to combat misleading narratives surrounding electoral information until December 31, 2024.

This program is part of the “API program for the Knight Election Hub” and aims to establish connections with trusted messengers to more effectively share nonpartisan journalism. Additionally, Factchequeado was selected to receive an additional $5,000 for carrying out a feasible experiment related to the goal of  working with trusted messengers.

As part of this agreement, Factchequeado  will explore tools and strategies to better serve Latino communities alongside local content creators/influencers, who will share out Factchequeado’s fact-checks, key messages, and new products like Electopedia and Electobot with their follower communities. These funds will be used exclusively for educational and nonpartisan activities, avoiding any attempts to influence legislation or political campaigns.

“This experimental support is crucial for amplifying our message and fostering greater civic engagement, providing the information Spanish speakers need to decide how they will vote. This project also aims to equip U.S. Latino communities with the information they need to trust the electoral process and its outcomes,” said Laura Zommer, CEO of Factchequeado.
